Hey Folks,
Here is a quick review of some of the new changes for our VN Family. The first few paragraphs are taken from a conversation with Colin...and are in quotation marks. The last paragraph are my own conclusions.

"Credits are now not rewarded for uploading Videos in 'Everything Else' or 'Website Ads'. we have also stopped awarding credits for image uploads too".

"The reason for this is we want people uploading marketing and training related videos".

"We have also stopped awarding credits for image uploads.
For pictures it is meant to be of marketing events attended and of themselves on holiday or work related. Not other peoples drawings of sunsets".

"There is now also only 1 table of winners and 1 random table, rather then having the 4 tables for revenue sharing".

"Also, there is a way that we can award money on individual pieces of content around the site. So if someone uploads a great marketing Video or an awesome marketing forum post, they can get awarded cash for that".

We want people to focus much more on quality. The main idea for VN is to help us all in our Marketing ventures. To work together to have the absolute best Marketing site on the internet.
I know personally when VN first started that was what it was all about, the forum stayed busy, videos and pics were more related to marketing themes. But as time went on it seemed that it became more about the credits for a lot of folks...not saying that in itself was bad, but we got away from what VN was originally supposed to be.
Lets return to the ideas of sharing ideas, helping each other to learn and grow in this great gulf of internet marketing. Lets come to have VN become the number one place someone turns to when they are just starting out, or the seasoned veteran will come and join because they see the value, and sincerity that we offer here.

I forgot an important announcement. Admin has implemented a new system, that won't affect many members here I'm sure, but which was needed sometimes in the past. As of now,Debs and myself have the ability to suspend a member who shows blatant disregard for the rules of this site. We take this responsibility seriously and it will be used as a last resort. As I said before, this will not affect 99% of the members here, we have a great team! But for that 1% that believe they can act as they wish without any regard to this site and other members....those days are over.
Also...if we have had to suspend any member 3 times for any violations of the rules in place, then we do also have the option to ban that member. I don't believe we will be using that option much...if ever. But I just want to let folks know that is in place now.
I also want to Thank, once more, all the members here who do make this place so enjoyable to work in. It is appreciated, both by me, and by Debs, and I would have to include by Admin too.

I have a clarification. Most marketing websites have 'how to videos'. Would members get credit for that if they uploaded them on Viral Networks?

For instance, a member uploads a video 'how to create blogs' from Youtube site. Does he get a credit for that?

yes...you should still get credits for all the rest of the video selections....just 'everything else' and 'website ads' are excluded. The main point is that we got away or were getting away from the main idea that this is a marketing site. Just trying to get back to basics, but still enjoy ourselves.

You also should warn members that leave small 2-3 word comments just to get credits. Comments like NICE VIDEO or NICE PIC or THANKS FOR SHARING. I know one guy who leaves just about the same 2-3 word comment every time I put up a new marketing tip video. Drives me crazy.

Heh...well, uh,....We are actually going to back off that particular rule for awhile...if it starts getting crazy, like it has with some in the past then Admin will probably put it back into effect. Time will tell.

wow! Thats good news. I was feeling a bit disappointed earlier, thinking creating and uploading my own videos is the only option which would take me months to create one. Thanks James M :)

Hi Ken, as far as i know, anything less than 3 words (comments) don't get credits. We also have a limit of max credits earned from comments per day, we are at the moment, much more worried about members spamming affiliate links then chasing an extra few credits.

We have also tried to make credits LESS important. To do this we have now implemented a feature to 'Award' good content with cash. So a great, personally created training video might get a couple of $ etc.

So as well as having a positive effect on current and future customers etc. for sharing great content, you could also get a bit of a remuneration as a thank you for doing well! :)

Hi James, it really should only take a short while. If you have screen capture software you can record yourself giving a lesson on something you learned. Like how to change the blog theme in wordpress etc. :)

This will take maybe 30 minutes to make and upload... So please don't be shy to have a crack!

Respected Sir,

I do not have anything to sell or need to have anything to do with the marketing, my aim of been the member here was only to find good opportunities which other user put up and to take advantage of that as well as I have made many good friends and you are one included. So after this is it the end of the journey for users like me. I am worried. I have nothing to give but only to take. I am basically a buyer.

Manisha,
There is nothing wrong with that....you could also look at it as, itstead of being a teacher,...you are a student. Plus even the buyer, student, can add valuable input into any program. I think you will see your journey has a long way to go yet. Besides....I'm sure you are not the only member here with the same concerns.

You can still upload pictures :) They just don't get credits.. :)

We are working to improve the system and make ViralNetworks the #1 online business social network, we need to have some 'no - spam' rules in place to do that.

It's great that people actually have to make posts of substance rather than just saying mumbo jumbo to get postings under their name. I really like how well-organized this board is and that there does not seem to be a ton of spam all over the place.

Thanks Colin for the ideas. I have the windows movie maker installed sometime back. I'm trying my hands on that. But if the screen capture software is much easier and faster in creating videos, I would have to try this out.

Camtasia,( if you have purchased it) works excellent with XP and up. Tho i do have an older version that still works with 2000. There are also free ones..such as CamStudio : http://camstudio.org/, and BB Flashback: http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/bbflashback/home.aspx I believe the express version of this is still free and works great.
Of course if you work with powerpoint presentations then there is another way.

It's great to make people post comments and messages of real value and not just saying one or two words and copying and pasting the same message to everyones posts. It drives me crazy getting an email saying someone has posted a reply to your message and then you go and log in and see "ta" or "have a gold day". I won't Say What Other Marketing site I am referring to but I expect you can guess lol

Quick question regarding the rules about posting videos. Is it possible for someone to search for specific videos regarding tutorials? I am looking for videos to help me with the layout of my website. I need it really dumbed down or I'm nervous that it will just be too much for me to grasp at once.

Hey Laurie,
If they are marketing related,I guess. The reason I myself push making your own is it is a valuable skill to have, and I've learned, not all that hard to do, especially with the newer computers. Some fantastic software out there to try.
