I would just like to request that people please take the time to read what they have posted, or preferably what they are about to post to make sure that the content makes sense to anyone coming in to read through the threads.

The post should at least either follow on from the current discussion or if they are picking up on a particular post from earlier in the thread, then please quote that post so that your addition makes immediate sense to anyone coming in to read the thread fresh.

Reason for my gripe here is that I just deleted a post that I couldn't make head or tail of at all - I'm not talking about a bit of mis-spelling here (I'm guilty of that myself at times so can hardly complain about that lol)

I know we're all busy but please, if you're going to take the time to make a post, at least make sure that any readers will be able to understand what you have to say and that your post is not just going to be deleted by mods due to not adding anything to the discussion in progress...

There are plenty of great contributors here who already do the above as a matter of course and it would be great if we could all get into such good habits before the site is relaunched.

If we are to be rewarded only for good quality content too it will be good practice :)

Cheers,
Debs

Practice I have been applying since about a month now: When I go into a thread I already posted in, I read my last post first. That way I can see the mistakes I have done and fix it before I continue on the conversation. That way I don't look like I can't spell or I have posted while drunk when others come back later.

spelling is not a problem for me! but at times I need to check how I phrase things. I'll work on it better! I try to take a 2nd look before I click the 'send' button.
It's great being a grammie to 4 wonderful sweet boys!

I need to practice the quoting like I just did as I am not good at it. I don't know why. Maybe just too busy and/or I assume people can see where I am picking up at, I don't know!!!

Thanks guys - like I said - it's not the spelling that's a problem it's the context...

You make a good point there William about being too busy or rushing too much - if we just assume that people will see where we are picking up from that's when things get really confusing for new people coming into the thread.

Also sometimes we make alterations to our posts too quickly and leave in some words that don't fit any more with the context of what we are trying to say so the whole thing becomes difficult to make sense of - have noticed that I have done this a couple of times myself and had to edit again before posting...

When I have those days I am too busy, I don't post in the forums. I find I can add to the thread much better by taking the time to make some sense rather than just post to add something. Afterall, the point of posting something is to help whoever added the thread and whoever asked the question inside of it, or to follow the conversation in a matter that makes sense.

Imagine being at a part and you hear a conversation in the room on your way by to another part of the room. On the way you just blurt out something no one can make any sense of because it sounded like a different language to them. They will just totally ignore your comment that may or may not help the conversation in the end, but no one could understand... Then what would the point of saying anything? The only comment from the group participating in the conversation would be:" That dude need serious help"

LOL
