Thanks William, the power of the mind always fascinates me, it makes the difference between coping with physical illness and overcoming psychological trauma, it enables us to function even when we think we can't go on a moment longer and it gives us the strength that we need to face the challenges that arise each day.
Faith is in the mind as well as the heart and it's one of the strengths that God gives us - the ability to continue to believe when our beliefs are challenged.

Here is an oldie but goodie.... "A penny saved is a penny earned" I love making good money, HOWEVER, I have never felt the need to spend it just because I had it. Actually I get perverse pleasure from saving as much as possible.... ;-) Probably stems from a very poor childhood, however, if more people considered that one fact, we would probably have a much stronger economy now!

This is not really true. Think about why we all get stimulus package at the end of the year. The intent is for you to spend more money to stimulate the economy. By having money moving around in stead of staying in our pockets is how the economy will get out of a recession. However, this will continue till about 2014 and if keeps going after that I am afraid it will tern into a depression. This was unavoidable as I read somewhere that a recession is part of a cycle that after so many years just happens and its our job to get out of the recession/depression!!! I agree with Michelle sorry William that if more people spent their money wisely the economy would be in a better position overall.
Perversely, you're right in that we need to spend to stimulate the economy but the problems that the economy has at the moment were created by profligate lending that gave a a false impression for too long of people having money to burn..
If we, as a society, were less seduced by easy borrowing and the availability of credit cards in the good times, the economy wouldn't be falsely bolstered and so wouldn't have so far to fall when the bad times come along..
That's why it goes in cycles - as soon as the economy gets a bit stronger, credit card companies and banks start to throw money at people who need it but can't really afford it because the minute interest rates take a small hike they are in over their head and the whole boom and bust cycle starts up again..
If we worked on saving for what we want instead of borrowing for it the economy would take longer to recover, we would take much longer to get those 'absolutely necessary' items like the huge flat screen TV with the cable / satellite package that costs an arm and a leg but everybody has, our kids would wait longer to join the X-BOX revolution or for their designer gear but I believe in the end the economy would crash less often.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning..Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
6. The tears happen.Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips.Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
And if you don't send this to at least 8 people - who cares? But do share this with someone. We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

Very true, and I have lost a bit myself. In hindsight though I believe that a person should only regret what they have not tried. Trying and failing is better than not trying. Live and learn and try again! (hopefully wiser :-)

I agree wholeheartedly Dan - my philosophy is that I would prefer to sit in my rocking chair going over the things I did and what I learned / had fun with - than to sit there dwelling sadly on the 'if only's'

I agree that it's never wise to respond to anger with harsh words of your own but depending upon the situation there are times when silence can wind up an angry person even more. Sometimes a measured response is helpful, one where you have counted to 10 before speaking and carefully kept your tone neutral..
Something weird about age as well - the older I get, the harder I find it to take my own advice on that one, my patience and tolerance level is just not what it was these days...
