I know I was asking questions in another thread about paypal but as for using them for features like here they are perfectly fine and safe. Plus you have to think about that "few $" you mentioned. Signing up for PP is free, plus you can transfer from them directly into your bank account, and vice-versa. A lot simpler for all around.
In case you don't know...Paypal is owned by E-bay, well know and respected company.

I am not a moderator, but I would assume that checks would be a big problem as we have people from all over the world here. The cost of writing these checks in the proper dollar format and mailing them to the people would exceed the amount on the check for most people. As a user of Paypal for 8-9 years now, I can assure it is very safe.

There's also the problem of the fee for cashing a different currency cheque at your local bank - for example, even if Colin and the guys were willing to write out and mail cheques in US dollars and send them, then your local bank is likely to charge you quite a bit to process that cheque, here in Cyprus, it would take at least 3 weeks to process the cheque and probably cost at least half of the amount the cheque was for by the time the bank added their processing fees, the exchange rate and anything else they can think of lol :)

I way prefer Paypal, but that's just my personal experience..

Could you imagine changing a check and instead of receiving money, the bank give you a bill? Your ROI is not very good then.

Checks are near impossible with thousands of members getting paid a month, there is writing, processing, the cost of postage, and the time and accounting required.

Most of the Pay-Pal scare is because people who abuse the rules and get their account frozen or deleted then go lie about Pay-Pal to try and scare others off out of revenge. If Pay-Pal were not a secure resource then major corporations and millions of users would not use them. Take a look at just about any major online retail site, from Tiger Electronics, to Wal-Mart and more they trust Pay-Pal with millions of dollars in sales.

Pay Pal for those who don't know is owned and backed by E-bay and also owns Verisign which is the encryption system preferred by not only most payment processors, but banks, the US Government, and most Anti Virus software sites use them as well to keep transactions secure. The fear is based on lies and their actual security track record is the best in the business bar none.

Great Andy, and Colin. I second your thought that most of those who are scared of Paypal, are either because they have not used it properly or read the complete rules, and facilities Paypal offers.

I still feel it is the most user friendly, safe, and value added service as far as Money exchange or Payment processors are concerned. Can you see they also offer Money transfers/Withdrawal to your own Local Banks in your individual countries, what more do you want? Why go for a Check? when your Money is being deposited to your own personal Bank directly?

I appreciate Colin's offer of adding other payment processors, and maybe some members would like that, but I am sure that will require adding a lot of more functions, not the least to mention a lot of more work for the Admin/Tech/Support Teams.

I personally have been using Paypal for so many years, and have both a Business as well as a Personal Account, and their services, and support, and Anti-spam/Phising support systems are just too good. Well each one has his own opinions, and I respect them. Just thought of expressing mine.

PayPal is cool most of the time. I had my account hacked into several years back. The crooks who did it tried to purchase a $500 piece of Jewelery and have it shipped over seas. PayPal caught the problem right away and I didn't lose a dime.

I think this is a mistake I also made at the start of my IM journey. You have to check that the program you are getting involved with is able to pay you in your country. When I began PayPal only had chq withdrawals for Australia. With the fee involved cashing foreign chqs was not worth the effort.

We can't really blame VN admin for PayPal not allowing withdrawals in Pakistan. Your best option is to contact PayPal directly and find out how they can help you. I have found them to be very helpful every time I have had to deal with them.

Also Colin asked if there were other payment processors that people wanted to suggest to him to take a look at.

Is there a payment processor that you are currently able to use Tanveer?

If so I would suggest writing to Colin at:http://reply2colin.comoutlining your problem and advising that you are curently using whichever payment processor does work in Pakistan for you. I'm sure that he will be willing to look into it for you, he did say in the thread above that he's prepared to look at other payment processors.

Debs

When Colin said he is willing to look at other payment processors guys, he menat online payment processors.

You need to look into which online payment processors work in Pakistan (or find out if there are any), payment processors are electronic funding middle men, they allow you to create an account that handles your money safely and act as an intermediary between your bank and the online business you are buying, or receiving funds from.

There are quite a few of these electronic payment processors, like Paypal, Alertpay, 2CO, Solid Trust Pay etc out there, if you do a search for the ones that work in Pakistan and then let Colin know, it would help him to decide which one may be added here to facilitate resolution of your problem?

Debs

Checks are not an option. That is too costly. And chartered banks are costly too. There are plenty of services online that offer these service for a lot less. If paypal does not service your country, find out which ones do from the examples Debs has given you...

Quote:

And bring that suggestion to the VN administrators and/or Colin. If you try and make the whole process complicated and costly, then these programs won't exist.

I have been using PayPal for about 6 years because I am on eBay. I have had only one bad experience with them when someone from China got past their securities and hacked into my account. Took about a month to get it all fixed. Now however, you can get a special security key that provides you with an added security window when logging into your account. It is a rotating 6 digit numeric code that changes every :30 seconds. Since I have had that feature I have had no problems with PayPal (other than trying to get answers from their live customer service reps) (lol)

Pay pal/Alert will not work for me either on my island. Then I thought of a friend in USA who will receive it for me with (approval from VN Admin of course) and then the friend will send it to me by a money order through the General Post Office or by Western Union. Both are acceptable here. This is just an idea that I am thinking of doing and thought to share it with members.

Sorry for my recent absence guys and thanks for being so helpful James DT

Tanveer you need to send in a support ticket tohttp://reply2colin.comrequesting that Alertpay be added into the payment options when the site is relaunched. This is something that Colin has considered previously and hopefully it is being factored in - it's just that the relaunch is taking so long.

In the meantime I will also ask Julien to reinforce the need for Alertpay as an alternative payment method when the site relaunches.

I'm not part of the administration Tanveer - am just a moderator of the site, have no input into how it works etc.

That's why I need to contact Julien to ask him to reinforce the issue and you sending a support ticket will help highlight it further. Support tickets are the formal way to get things addressed with regard to any problems you have with the site.

Hope that helps,

ok I just got in and saw my reply from Julien on this issue - apparently the new system after launch will support Paypal and Alertpay for subscription payments and for purchasing of advertising etc.

It seems that there is still a question over whether Alertpay will be able to be used to pay commissions (may depend upon how many people use Alertpay to pay subscriptions etc), but it is something the team are still looking at although it definitely won't come into being until the site is relaunched..

it's just that there isn't anything more people can add Tanveer, we are all waiting for the re-launch and until then no-one knows exactly which of the other payment processors will be in use..

The admins have said that there will be other processors available at that point, nothing more we can do but wait for it to happen.
