Step 4 – Making Friends & Business Contacts

This is the 4th blog post of a series on how to get started with ViralNetworks. In this series we will show you all the benefits of using ViralNetworks, and how to get started quickly so you can make the most of your membership. Stay tuned for more educational emails and blog posts!

In the previous step we saw how to upload photos and videos. If you still don’t know how to, make sure you read this blog post: Step 3 – Uploading photos and videos. Now we will see how you can make friends and business contacts on ViralNetworks.

Getting to know other members

If you’ve been in the online business and marketing industry for some years, you might already  have a few friends or business contacts who are on ViralNetworks already. You can find then with the ‘search box’. Otherwise, we strongly suggest that you browse around the site and send contact requests to people you would like to get in touch with (NOT to show them your offers to but to learn from them). Add people that you can see yourself becoming social with and doing business with.

Remember a Friend can contact you any time via the ‘iMailer’ system and you can contact them, but please once again don’t use it to spam your new friends, only contact them to build a friendship.

A great place to start with is the forum. To visit the forum, log into your account and click ‘Community’ in the top navigation bar. Then click the ‘Forum’ tab. You will land on the ViralNetworks Forum. The forum is broken down into several categories, where you can discuss various topics with other members. This is a great place to start to knowing other members better and make some new friends and business contacts!

Getting active on the forum is a fun and easy way to reach achievements and win trophies. Trophies are like trust seals on your profile; they will help you build your reputation online. Remember… if you receive enough trophies, you can win the 365-Day Contest! Submit quality content, participate in the forums… and you WILL be rewarded for your efforts! How to add a member as a contact

To add a member as a contact, simply visit his or her profile and click the ‘Add as Contact‘ link below the profile picture. This will send a contact request to this member. Once the member has accepted the contact request, his or her profile will show up in your list of contacts. To view your list of contacts, go to your profile and scroll down until you reach the ‘Contacts’ box. To view your full list of contacts click ‘View All‘.

Did you know that as a free member you can have up to 1,000 contacts. If you want more contacts you can upgrade your account. On the upgrade page you will see a ‘Benefits Matrix‘ that shows you the differences in the membership levels, so you can choose one that is right for you! Stay tuned for the next blog post!

Step 3 – Uploading photos and videos

This is the 3rd blog post of a series on how to get started with ViralNetworks. In this series we will show you all the benefits of using ViralNetworks, and how to get started quickly so you can make the most of your membership. Stay tuned for more educational emails and blog posts!

Last time we discussed what networks are and how to join one. If you don’t know what they are and/or how to join one, make sure you read this blog post: Step 2 – Joining a Network. You should be getting a little more familiar with ViralNetworks by now… and you may even have started to upload photos and videos!

Why you should upload photos and videos

ViralNetworks is very search engine-friendly, which means all the content you submit will get indexed very quickly, especially if you tweet about or link to it. This applies to your profile, the articles you may submit, and of course the photos and videos you upload. Make sure you give relevant descriptions to your files so search engines know for what terms they should rank the pages for!

How to upload a photo

To upload a photo, log into your account, go to your profile and click the ‘Gallery’ tab. You will land on your gallery page, where you can view all the existing photos in your gallery and of course upload more. To upload a photo, click the ‘Upload Photo’ button, follow the on-screen instructions and click ‘Save’. You may upload photos in the following file formats: JPG, GIF, PNG & BMP.

However, please only upload photos that are relevant to the online business and marketing industry. Do NOT upload illegal, adult or violent photos, or photos of people that are not related to you. You may upload photos of yourself, your business partners or people you met at a conference you went to but NOT of people you have strictly no relation with.

How to upload a video

To upload a video, click ‘Video’ in the top navigation bar. You will land on the video page, where you can view all the top featured videos, top rated videos, most recent videos, most viewed videos, most discussed videos… and of course upload your own videos. To upload a video, click the ‘Upload Video’ button, follow the on-screen instructions and click ‘Save’. You may upload videos in the following file formats: WMV, AVI, MPEG, MPE, MP4, M4V & FLV.

It is very important that you select the correct category… & Please don’t be shy to make your own training and marketing videos, that is what the site is built for. It WILL improve your reputation to make a training video where you share content, remember, just because you know something and think everyone knows it does not make it true.

You could reach someone who did not know that trick or method or information and really help them. This person will then have great respect for you, and this helps to build people who will be interested in your business!

Make sure you wait while the video is being processed! Do NOT close the window until you have the confirmation that the video has been successfully processed. When it will be done, you will see a page giving you the opportunity to feature the video for extra exposure. Featured videos show up on most video pages including the video index, featured videos, top rated videos, most recent videos, most viewed videos, most discussed videos…

If you have reached the maximum number of videos you can upload per day, you should consider upgrading to Gold or Elite. As a Gold member you can upload up to 10 videos a day (up to 150mb in size each), and as an Elite member you can upload up to 15 videos per day (up to 250mb in size each)! If you think about those numbers for a minute, and compare it to other video sharing site like vimeo etc. we allow so much more, so as well as the MANY other benefits to upgrade your account with ViralNetworks, the ability to share more video is a nice reason! Make and share videos, and start branding yourself and your business today!

Step 2 – Joining a network

This is the 2nd blog post of a series on how to get started with ViralNetworks. In this series we will show you all the benefits of using ViralNetworks, and how to get started quickly so you can make the most of your membership. Stay tuned for more educational emails and blog posts!

By now you should have filled in your profile and added a few friends and business contacts. If not, make sure you read this blog post: Step 1 – Filling in your profile (if not already done).

Why you should join a network

The next step would be to join a network. Networks are not groups nor fan pages… they are much more than that! By joining a network, you get privileged access to a platform that allows you to learn from and get in touch with the staff of your favorite products. If you’re a ViralURL user, you may join the ViralUrl network to get in touch with the ViralUrl team. There is no limit in the number of networks you can join. Feel free to join as many as you want!

Network features

Networks are jam packed with great features including:

* a home page – This is an Overview of the Network
* a forum section – This is where you can meet and chat with other members of the network as well as the owner
* a blog section – This is where the owner of the network might post updates and site and network news
* a videos section – Have a testimonial, went to this networks event? Upload relevant video in here
* a gallery – Share pictures of yourself and other members of this network
* an events section – Check out the latest webinars, conferences and events that this network is putting on!
* and a lot more to come…

Networks have everything site owners need to interact with their customers and followers. We take account of ALL the feedback we receive, and will keep improving networks and adding new features as we go! Stay tuned for more features and enhancements!

How to join a network

To browse the list of networks and join one, please log into your account and click ‘Networks’ in the top navigation menu. Then select the network you would like to join and click ‘Join This Group’.

To see if a site you are a member of has a ‘Social Network’ search for them with the ‘search box’, if they don’t YOU should contact them, tell them they are missing out and get them to signup, if you get a network owner in your downline, you can really get your downline to explode.

You will then be able to access all the sections of the network! Make sure you get active so the network owner knows you’re in! Remember, you can join as many networks as you want! However, only upgraded members (Gold or higher) can create a network.

Step 1 – Filling in your profile

This is the 1st blog post of a series on how to get started with ViralNetworks. In this series we will show you the benefits of using ViralNetworks, and how to get started quickly so you can make the most of your membership. Stay tuned for more educational emails and blog posts!

Why you should fill in your profile

The first thing you should do after signing up to ViralNetworks is to fill in your profile. This is important for several reasons. The most important one is because there are links to the profiles of all the most recent members in the footer of the site. The footer shows on every single page, giving your profile massive exposure, and making it almost instantly indexed by the search engines.

Make sure you add a real picture of yourself on your profile. If you don’t add any picture, the link to your profile will be less likely to be clicked, and if you add a picture of someone else like a celebrity, people will not take you seriously, which is not the best way to get started… Don’t overlook that aspect because ViralNetworks can really help you build a strong reputation.

How to fill in your profile

To fill in your profile, simply log into your account and click ‘Edit Profile’ in the top right navigation bar. Enter your details, add your skills, a description of yourself, add a signature… and choose your preferences. If you’re an upgraded member, you can add your Google AdSense ID to earn money from advertising revenues and decide how often you get notification emails.

Your signature link and the text you put to link to it are shown all around the site, under your posts in the forums etc. so it is worth linking so something of value (this is normally your main site). Please note that this gives you great exposure, so please do NOT spam or put your affiliate links in posts etc. as the signature link shows everywhere, will get a lot of exposure, so do the right things!

If you add your Twitter details, make sure that your feed is public. If your Twitter feed is private, it will not show on your profile and might even cause problems for people viewing it. Don’t forget to save the changes! Then on your profile you may add your past and current positions by clicking ‘Add a position’ in the ‘Experience’ box. This is very important to let people know a bit about you and your history. Fill it out so your profile is full and looks complete!

You may then update your status and start adding some friends and business contacts. ViralNetworks is very search engine-friendly, so you can get your profile to rank for your name fairly easily.

Important – You can get icons and badges to link to your profile by clicking on ‘Dashboard’ and then selecting ‘Promotional tools’. Under the ‘banners’ section you will find these buttons with your links built in. These contain your affiliate link, so if someone views you on ViralNetworks to see who you are (it is great to use these in the signature of your emails, or on your site and blog, etc.) and join, they will sign up under YOU!

The New ViralNetworks Has Arrived!

Today we’re proud to announce the official relaunch of ViralNetworks! The new version of the site has been in public beta for almost two weeks, and we can see that many of you have already started to take advantage of the new features! As you can see, we’ve been working hard to bring you what online business owners and marketers like you need the most. Let’s take a closer look at the new features…

Good bye groups, hello networks!

Networks have replaced groups. Groups were a good but limited feature, and we decided to drop it for networks, which are a much more advanced feature. If you own a site, you are more than welcome to create yourself a network, so you can better interact with your existing and potential customers. Networks feature a home page, a members list, a forum section, a blog section, a video section, a gallery, an events section, a contact section… and the best part is that we will keep improving that feature! Anyone can join a network, but only upgraded members (Gold or higher) can create one.

Article directory (dofollow backlinks allowed)

ViralNetworks is all about content, so we’ve decided to create an article directory. All members with a reputation level of 4 or more can submit their own articles so other members can read them. If you want to establish yourself as an expert in your field, we strongly suggest you to write a few articles and submit them to the directory. We even allow you to add one dofollow link back to your site. Backlinks will help your pages rank better in the search engines, and this is on top of the traffic you will receive from ViralNetworks!

Reach Achievements & Earn Trophies!

Because we wanted to reward our most active members, we created an achievements system, so every time you reach a step (i.e. opening 100 of your imails or making 10 referrals) you reach an achievement and can ultimately earn a trophy. Trophies are like trust seals on your profile and will help you build a reputation online. We have also set up a contest where ALL members earning 20 trophies (out of the 50 available) WIN a prize (or the equivalent in cash). Stay tuned for more info!

Global events calendar

We have also implemented a global Events section, to regroup all the events created by network owners. As a network owner this is a great way for you to reach a larger audience, and as a member you can easily see what’s going on in the online business and marketing industry: live events, conferences, seminars, workshops… If you’re planning on organizing quite a few events make sure you consider upgrading to Gold and create a network, so you can submit as many events as you want!

That’s about it for the main new features. Now let’s see what was improved…

Search engine-friendliness

If you’ve used ViralNetworks in the past, you already know how search engine-friendly the site is. Well, we went even further by optimizing the site again so it’s even more search engine-friendly! The structure of the pages makes it very easy for Google and other search engines to find out about the content. Most pages (profiles, photos, videos, articles, etc.) you create are indexed very quickly, if not instantly. Imagine all the search engine traffic you could drive to your content! Start publishing quality content now and stop imagining!

The Power Lounge (VIP Forum)

We have also created an upgraded members only forum where members can find free products, review copies of paid products, online marketing tips and tricks and much more. Give the latest products a try, get feedback and testimonials from other members, build long-term joint venture partnerships…

Non-disruptive pop-up window for imails

Now every time you’re online and receive an imail, a non-disruptive pop-up window will show up at the bottom right corner of your page letting you know about this new message. This is a great addition for several reasons: first, as a member you’re sure you won’t miss any message, and this will help you reach achievements even more easily… and as a user of our imailer you will get a higher open rate for your offers. A 100% deliverability rate, and an improved open rate! Truly, it coulnd’t be better than that!

Get Awarded Money for Submitting Quality Content

You can now get awarded cash for submitting quality content to the site, up to $10 a piece! Submit as much quality content as you can and build yourself a new revenue stream! You must be the owner of the content you submit, or have the rights to distribute it… but if you already have a lot of quality content, make sure you share it on ViralNetworks to get a chance to make fast, easy money. This includes videos, forums posts, articles, wiki’s. Admin have the ability to award from $1 – 10 when they see some content that is of benefit to other members. We all know something that someone else doesn’t, so make a training video or a forum post sharing that!

And of course you can still update your status, upload photos and videos, create and edit wikis, use our forums, earn credits and get a chance to receive money from the revenue sharing pool, refer other members to build a list and earn commissions, contact 3,000 random members every 3 days as a Gold member and 6,000 as an Elite member, earn Google AdSense revenues…

New Site Update

A few months ago we announced the coming relaunch of ViralNetworks (with a new design and new features): New Version Coming Soon! Unfortunately, we underestimated the amount of time necessary to develop all the new features. We actually expected to be late for the relaunch, but not that late…

Anyhow, we would like to apologize for the delay (and the lack of updates) but also want to ensure you that we’re definitely on the way! The site is set up already but some of the new features are not ready yet, and the accounting system needs to be worked on. We really want the site to be complete at relaunch, so no one is disappointed!

This time, we will not give you any date for the relaunch, but you can definitely expect the new site for the coming summer. Again, thanks a lot to all the members who have been supporting us and giving us their feedback and suggestions for improvement. Stay tuned for more updates!

New Version Coming Soon!

You may have noticed that things went pretty quiet on ViralNetworks these last few weeks… Well, there’s a good reason for that! Our team has been working on the design and development of the new version of ViralNetworks. It will have a new design, a better usability and some great new features that we’re sure most of you will love! Here is a preview of the new design:

We can’t wait to launch this new version but still have to work on it a little more. The wait shouldn’t be too long though. We expect to relaunch ViralNetworks sometime in January. The beginning of 2010 looks very promising! We just couldn’t find a better way to start the new year!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who have been supporting us and especially those who gave us their feeback and suggestions for improvement. Thanks a lot everyone! Only a few weeks to wait now… Get ready for a massive relaunch!

On a sidenote, for those who are wondering about November’s payments, they will all be made next week to anyone with more then $10 pending for more than 2 weeks. Thanks for your patience!
